How to become a member of the Invasive and Introduced Species Section:
To become a member of the Introduced Fish Section, you must be a current member of the American Fisheries Society. If you are a member in good standing of AFS, you can then select the section as a membership option from the AFS website. The cost of joining the Introduced Fish Section is an additional $5 beyond the annual AFS membership fee.
Benefits of IISS membership:
Joining the section means becoming part of a community of people interested and invested in the effects of fish introductions. You will be able to attend section meetings and vote on decisions made by the section as a whole as well as selecting the executive committee. Once you have joined the section, you can also become a part of the ISS group on google, which allows you to join the Invasive and Introduced Species Section listserv. Being part of the listserv is a great way to stay current on news and scientific developments dealing with introduced fish as well as a variety of related topics.
The IISS google group:
Joining the Invasive and Introduced Species Section group means that you receive all messages sent out to the section at large, and that you can post your own questions or messages if you have something that you would like to share with the group. Anyone in the group can post to this group by emailing: [email protected]. This will keep you apprised of current events in the world of fish introductions and related research and policy issues. This group only contains members or past members of our Section, and we do not send out spam or advertising. Members can change your group settings to receive no or fewer emails from the group, or you can unsubscribe at any time.
